Bonuses
Bonuses are a casino's way of getting you to sign up. They can vary from 10% to 500%. However, be sure to read their bonus terms. There are usually wagering requirements associated with the bonus.
Comps
Online
casinos will usually give you 1 "comp point" for
every $x dollars you wager. Then, these comp
points can be converted into cash for your
bankroll. While comp programs vary by casino
and by player, usually for the average gambler,
you will get 1 point for every $10 you wager,
and can convert 1,000 points for $10.
Deposit Methods
Most credit cards will not allow you to use it for online gambling, so a number of companies have sprung up that act as an intermediary between you and the casino. Among these companies are Neteller, Firepay, Citadel, PaySpark and EcoCard. The choice of Deposit Method is as important as the choice of casino.
Wagering Requirements
Casinos will usually require you to wager
a certain amount before your bonus gets credited
or before you can cash out your bonus. This
requirement is usually given in a multiplier,
such as 15x or 20x. For example, Casino A
might give you a $100 bonus for a $100 deposit
but you have to play the deposit 5x (or $500
worth of bets). Also, there might be a requirement
that you play 15x your bonus (or $1500 in
wagers) before you can cash out. Also, some
casinos state that you cannot cash out your
bonus but only winnings from that bonus. So,
for example, if you get a $100 bonus, you
can never withdraw that $100. But if you get
your bankroll up to say, $300, you can withdraw
$200 of that. (Personally, The Sherpa hates
this last type of bonuses.)
Also, note that some games do not count towards
your wagering requirements. This varies by
casino but roulette usually doesn't count.
Ostensibly, this is to protect the casinos
from people who bet Red and Black on roulette
to fulfill their requirements. However, some
casinos will give you a 500% bonus but then
specify that only wagers on slots count towards
your 20x wager requirements. Usually, if Video
Poker or Blackjack bets don't count towards
the wagering requirement, I don't deposit
my money.
